McHenry Sportsman’s Club Newsletter (December 12, 2002)
Dear Members and Families:
Year end is here again and we are writing you this newsletter, as we have in the past.
This year seemed to be more like others years in the past.
We managed to stay out of trouble, elect some new public officials and did some shooting at our local gun clubs.
The McHenry Sportsmen's Club did rather well this year.
We enjoyed having new members join the club and do what we seem to like to do... shoot clay targets.
We hope you have enjoyed the past year and have enjoyed the time spent at the club.
We all want to hope next year promises to be a good year and we can continue to do what we all love to do.
SHOOT
Last year at a glance:
A second Pat Trap was installed on Trap Field two.
This means we now have two Pat Traps.
Plans are to add a third machine this spring.
Voice callers were upgraded.
The clubhouse is now air conditioned.
We have permanent counter help.
League shooting has been expanded.
Events coming up:
Second Annual "HANGOVER Shoot"
Newyear's day shoot.
JACKRABBIT Shoot
Schedule included in this newsletter.
ATA Marathon Shoot:
We held an ATA Registered shoot in a "Marathon' format last summer.
This format allows a shooter to sign up for registered targets in sets of one hundred as many times as the shooter feels he can shoot.
This type of shooting is sometimes referred to as "registered practice".
You get to shoot as much as you like with the targets being registered with the ATA.
No formal prizes are awarded, but nothing says you cannot establish a private prize pool on the side and award them yourselves.
This shoot was very successful and the club will host them in the coming year.
There was a misunderstanding at the last marathon Shoot about the events that were to be included.
The practice is as long as five or more shooters can be found for a given event, the event may be offered.
This means if you want to shoot marathon doubles, this can be done.
Once five shooters can be located, some can drop off afterwards and you may be the only one left shooting doubles.
Picnic - Championship:
Last year's picnic was enjoyed by many members.
The club championship shoot was also hosted during the picnic.
Next Year's Goals:
Maintain our membership.
Purchase and install our third Pat Trap.
Conduct our annual spring clean-up.
Improve our Registered Shooting activity by adding shoots and working hard to manage the activities during the shoots.
Continue to develop league shooting and add Wobble Trap to our League activities.
Make our monthly meetings more accessible to as many members as possible.
2003 Jackrabbit Shoot:
Yes, there will be a Jackrabbit Shoot this year.
The following is the schedule, as known to us:
